Audi unveiled the R8 e-tron concept three years ago at the Frankfurt Auto Show, and would be launched on the market by the end of 2012.
According to a report that we received, the Audi R8 e-tron is under review at the request of research and development chief Wolfgang Dürheimer. Worse still, according to sources there's a chance the entire project could be killed.
Audi is now shifting its focus to plug-in hybrid versions, evidenced by plans to produce A1, A3, A4, A6, and Q7 SUV hybrid-electric models. Once again high costs were cited as the likely reason for the project's demise.
