Lexus just offered up some early test drives of the 2014 IS in prototype form and officially announced plans to introduce at the 2013 NAIAS in Detroit Auto Show.

The 2014 Lexus IS takes styling cues from the LF-CC concept, and is a shortened version of the same platform that underpins the GS.

The Lexus IS will use the same body as the second generation of the model, which was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005.

The car will also have a revised suspension, the multi-link rear suspension, softer spring rates along with IS300h certified at "under 100g/km".

Engine specs are yet to be released, but in the UK, two different engines will be available: a V6 petrol-powered IS250 and a hybridized 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces approximately 240 bhp (179 kW).

In a recent interview, Peter Evans, the Lexus Australia marketing manager hinted that the new generation of the Lexus IS might make its official debut at the 2013 Detroit. Prices are expected to start at £32,000.
