Volkswagen has released the first images of the limited edition 2013 Polo R WRC Street and will cost 33,900 EUR.
Heavily inspired by a concept that was presented at the GTI Meeting in Worthersee, Austria, in May - the Volkswagen Polo R borrows the same blue/grey livery as its WRC sibling, designed to mimic the look of the rally car.
The 2013 Volkswagen Polo R WRC also has a rally-inspired lower front spoiler with big air inlets, a roof mounted spoiler at the rear, a diffuser in the rear bumper and 18-inch alloys which will hid massive 16-inch brake disks.
The front passengers are treated to bucket seats upholstered in leather and Alcantara, black roof liner and racing-style pedals.
The car to be the most powerful car in the sub-compact hot hatch segment with a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine that develops 217 hp (162 kW) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. The engine is matched to a six-speed manual transmission and drive only goes to the front wheels.
With this high torque figure, the Volkswagen Polo R WRC Street is able to achieve excellent combined efficiency and emissions numbers - 31.6 mpg (38 mpg UK or 7.4 liters / 100 km) on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions are put at 174g/km.
