Honda have confirmed that the next generation Civic Type R will get a 2.0-liter turbo engine with up to 300 hp (224 kW).
The 2013 Honda Civic facelifted has already been unveiled ahead of its public debut at the L.A. Auto Show on this month. While a previous report was indicating that the next-gen Type R will feature a 1.6-litre motorsport engine that produces 250 hp (186 kW).
Rumors are saying that the upcoming Honda Civic Type R will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo with as much as 300 hp (224 kW) could be more powerful than the Renaultsport Megane 265.
Arai said: "We have an idea of the products our rivals are developing and regardless of what anyone else produces, our car will be the fastest front-wheel-drive model around the Nurburgring when it goes on sale. And we will do whatever we need to in order to make that happen."
With a start price at £25,000 and the car will hit the market in 2015.
