Philanthropy is high on Ferrari's agenda at the moment, the Italian supercar manufacturer put on their generosity hat once more by the first U.S.-spec Ferrari F12 Berlinetta was auctioned for $1.125 million USD to aid those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Ferrari says that the auction had a starting price of $315,888, but the auction ended up being a tremendous success and ended with Larry Roth, from Long Island.
Coupled with the $345,000 in donations made by “Ferrari dealers, clients and friends,” bringing the total donation to almost $1.5M USD and will all be donated to the Red Cross.
The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta in question will arrive in Larry Roth's garage in Q2 2013, with scheduled deliveries due to start soon after.
As a reminder, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is powered by a 6,262 cc V12 engine, the powerful engine is linked to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and rear-wheel-drive setup. This is enough to allow the fastest Ferrari ever built to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 340 km/h.
