The production model follows last year's concept and the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels will make its debut at this week's SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas to be developed will not only be sold as a miniature toy, but also as a real car.
“Millions of us grew up playing with Hot Wheels,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “Offering a special production model of the Camaro Hot Wheels is an opportunity to bring those memories to life, for kids of all ages.”
The Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels is designed after the original Hot Wheels Camaro that was one of the first 16 original Hot Wheels toys in 1968. It will be offered as a $6,995 upgrade on the 2013 Camaro.
The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels begins with unique black 21-inch wheels with red outline stripe, tail-light surrounds get some matte black touches, a ZL1 rear spoiler and Hot Wheels grille. Red-ringed 21-inch wheels with black accents pay homage to the 1/64-scale models.
On the inside, the Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels gets a black leather-trimmed interior accented with red as well as on the door panels and on the door sill plates. The instrument panel and door inserts are black, steering wheel controls, Hot Wheels Edition sill plates, premium sound system and Chevrolet MyLink touch screen infotainment system.
No changes have been made to the engines, the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro is equipped a 3.6-liter LFX V-6 engine rated at 323 HP with 2LT trim and 2SS trim gets a 400 HP 6.2-liter L99 V-8. Dual-mode exhaust is available on both six-cylinder cars with buyers of the manual 2SS trim while 2LT model with either transmission.
