The 2013 BMW 7-Series has received a number of important updates, which include a new standard eight-speed automatic transmission; a revised exterior among the enhancements; powertrain upgrades; a completely new powertrain for the ActiveHybrid 7 and exterior updates.
Starting with the exterior, the 2013 BMW 7-Series receives full LED headlights, more angular front grille & a new front bumper, new front bumper fascia design with chrome strips.
Inside the 2013 BMW 7-Series receives plenty of tech but very little has changed. With changes including freeing up cabin space, several new color, ambient lighting, more comfortable front seats. The 2013 BMW 7-Series enhanced with a newly redesigned iDrive system and two 9.2-inch screens. There's also new mirrors to further reduce wind noise; enhanced voice recognition system; Bang & Olufsen surround-sound system with 16 speakers and a dictation function to compose text messages.
All models get a new eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and auto stop-start, which was previously only available for the V-12 and hybrid models. The 2013 BMW 7-Series also features regenerative braking and an ECO PRO driving mode which helps to conserve fuel.
The 740i and 740Li models features BMW's latest 3.0 liter TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder, 315 hp and 330 lb-ft. BMW says official EPA fuel-economy estimates aren't yet available, but promises that the motor will be more fuel efficient that its predecessor.
The 2013 BMW 7-Series has upgrades powertrain on the 750i and 750Li. The 4.4 liter TwinPower Turbo V8 has been updated with Valvetronic, output rising to 445 hp and torque to 480 lb-ft.
BMW said the ActiveHybrid 7 also gets a completely new powertrain this year. Which the outgoing model's 408HP 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 is replaced by the 740i 315 hp 3.0-liter turbocharged in-line six-cylinder which produces 320 HP (235 kW / 315 bhp). Power and torque have dropped considerably, but the system will improve efficiency by 14% over a six-cylinder BMW 740i.
The EPA has yet to release official fuel economy ratings for the 2013 BMW 7-Series and is expected to hit showrooms later this summer.
