2014 Chevy Camaro to get 505hp LS7 engine

According to leaked documents, GM will offer a version of the 2014 Chevy Camaro that will be powered by the 505 horsepower, 7.0L LS7 engine from the Corvette.

According to a VIN card leaked on General Motors internal website, the car develops 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. That engine has also been rumored for an upcoming Cadillac ATS-V.

The LS7 is a great motor and GM wish could have found some ways to make it more available. The VIN card doesn't list any new Camaro models.

Currently the Z06 comes standard with 505 hp, but the Chevrolet COPO Camaro with a 4.0L Whipple supercharger - packs 550 hp.

The last 2012 Chevrolet COPO Camaro is making its way to the auction block this January at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction to benefit the American Heart Association.

The first 67 units of the model have sold out and the 68th staying in GM's private collection.

The car has a COPO 327 engine with a 4.0L Whipple supercharger - the total output produced was standing at 550 hp (410 kW).

This V8 engine hand-built tarmac hellraiser also comes fitted with racing chassis; rear suspension; a solid rear axle and a roll cage.

Colors available for the 2012 Chevrolet COPO Camaro included the Ashen Grey Metallic, Victory Red, Black, the Summit White and Silver Ice Metallic.

Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Edition priced from £40,020

2013 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Edition

Following the car's debut at the 2012 SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas, the Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Edition will go on sale in the UK priced from £40,020 for the Coupe Manual and £41,520 for Coupe Automatic.

The Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels features styling cues from the ZL1, the vehicle wears a Kinetic Blue exterior paint. The special edition also comes with a front upper grille, two-tone matte hood graphics, front splitter and rocker treatment.

Red-ringed 21-inch wheels with black accents pay homage to the 1/64-scale models.

Inside the Chevrolet Camaro has a black leather-trimmed cabin with red and black stitching, couple more Hot Wheels badges, steering wheel controls, Chevrolet MyLink touch screen infotainment system, Hot Wheels Edition sill plates and premium sound system.

“Millions of us grew up playing with Hot Wheels,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “Offering a special production model of the Camaro Hot Wheels is an opportunity to bring those memories to life, for kids of all ages.”

At its heart is a V8 6.2-liter engine which makes 432 hp (318 kW) and 569 Nm of torque in the manual model and 405 hp (298 kW) and 556 Nm (410 lb-ft) when linked to an automatic transmission.

Sorry kids... the Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Edition is not a toy.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Edition

The production model follows last year's concept and the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels will make its debut at this week's SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas to be developed will not only be sold as a miniature toy, but also as a real car.

“Millions of us grew up playing with Hot Wheels,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “Offering a special production model of the Camaro Hot Wheels is an opportunity to bring those memories to life, for kids of all ages.”

The Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels is designed after the original Hot Wheels Camaro that was one of the first 16 original Hot Wheels toys in 1968. It will be offered as a $6,995 upgrade on the 2013 Camaro.

The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels begins with unique black 21-inch wheels with red outline stripe, tail-light surrounds get some matte black touches,  a ZL1 rear spoiler and Hot Wheels grille. Red-ringed 21-inch wheels with black accents pay homage to the 1/64-scale models.

On the inside, the Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels gets a black leather-trimmed interior accented with red as well as on the door panels and on the door sill plates. The instrument panel and door inserts are black, steering wheel controls, Hot Wheels Edition sill plates, premium sound system and Chevrolet MyLink touch screen infotainment system.

No changes have been made to the engines, the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro is equipped a 3.6-liter LFX V-6 engine rated at 323 HP with 2LT trim and 2SS trim gets a 400 HP 6.2-liter L99 V-8. Dual-mode exhaust is available on both six-cylinder cars with buyers of the manual 2SS trim while 2LT model with either transmission.
