2014 Bentley Continental Flying Spur debut ahead of Geneva

2014 Bentley Continental Flying Spur

After showing us a couple teasers recently, the 2014 Bentley Continental Flying Spur with some styling cues borrowed from the GT and GTC models - has broken cover early today.

A lower roofline combined with sharp lines and rounded surfaces make the new Flying Spur appear lower and wider; a more upright front grille and lower door handles and front fenders that feature a new "wing" vent with the Bentley "B" motif.

Standard bright-painted or diamond-turned finish 19-inch Classic wheels wrapped in 275/45/19 rubber improve comfort and handling.

The setup includes two 10-inch LCD screens installed in the backs of the front seats; a nine-liter bottle cooler behind the center console and moonroof are optional. As always, there's an enormous amount of leather, wood and wool applied to the spacious interior.

Most likely the engine lineup will be borrowed from the Continental GT Speed - the Bentley Continental Flying Spur will come with a 616 horsepower version of the W12 standard and it sends that power to the ground through a new eight-speed automatic transmission and a rear-biased (40/60) all-wheel-drive system.

Launching the 5,451-pound sedan from 0-60 miles per hour will take just 4.3 seconds and 100 mph comes in less than 10 seconds and has a top speed of 200 mph. Bentley is still expecting the next-generation Flying Spur to return better EPA fuel economy than the current model with projected (but not certified) estimates will return 12 mpg in city driving and 20 mpg on the highway.

For a car that will surely retain a starting price of just under $195,000 for the base model - we'll get a full look at the Flying Spur at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show.

2013 Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible

Ahead of its official debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, Bentley has revealed the 2013 Continental GT Speed Convertible - the world’s fastest open-top four-seater.

The car gains the same exterior modifications that are found on the coupe. A dark-chrome finish on the matrix radiator grille; exclusive 21-inch alloys; 'rifled' exhaust tips and a black enamel background for the winged “B” badge.

The GT Speed Convertible interior stays in line with Bentley's Mulliner Driving Specification package with its characteristic quilted diamond pattern leather. There's also an exclusive dark tint aluminum “engine spin” inserts on the dashboard, a Naim audio system, an infotainment system with a 15Gb data capacity and an optional carbon fiber trim.

The suspension has been lowered by 10mm compared to the regular GT, updated air springs and dampers, the double-wishbone and multi-link rear suspension are tweaked.

The Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible is equipped with the same 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine that produces 616 hp (460 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque from 2,000-5,000 rpm. While delivering a 15-percent improvement in fuel efficiency compared to its predecessor.

It's good enough for a 0-60mph time of 4.1sec and a top speed of 202 mph (325 km/h). Estimated fuel economy is 12 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway and is still subject to EPA certification.
